Jennifer Yap: US Nationals Crew Report First day of the Internationals and we’ve all settled into a pattern. Get to WRSC, rig boat, line up for ramp, sail towards the course for a bit, try and get towed out, race, try and get towed back, de-rig, line up for hose, wash down boat, change, eat and socialize. Both the water and winds are warm – which is such a joy in October! While on the water, remember to deal with the current and avoid those pesky crab pots which seem to be scattered all over the bay. We drifted into one on the first day of the US Nationals which kicked up our centerboard and snagged on our rudder. But revenge will be mine; I’m planning on a nice crab dinner by the end of the regatta. There was some nice breeze today and the winds are forecasted to pick up later in the week. Looking forward to sailing fast very soon! |
