Adam Nicholson: on Mile 5643.4 of The Fall Sailing Regatta Circuit I thought since I was asked to write a "Blog" for the Internationals in West River, I might as well start a bit before the regatta. Some of you may have noticed the mile of 5643.4 at the top of this blog. I live in Muskoka, north of Toronto. I'm on the Canadian Sailing Team for the Finn. I had a NQR in San Francisco last weekend during which I finished 9th overall at the NA's. Thus due to the short time in between the two regattas I decided I should tow my Albacore out to SF with me. I didn't get a chance to sail it but am looking forward to the regatta in West River. I currently have 2 boats on my trailer, an Albacore on the top, and a Finn on the bottom. When in SF I got a chance to see the inside of Alcatraz, I have raced around the Rock before.. Today while in Missouri I visited Walt Disney's hometown in Mercelline MO and the Mark Twain's hometown in Hannibal MO. I don't think Dr. Lector was around but you never know. On the way out I checked out Mount Rushmore and a possible sailing venue of Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park, one slight problem there, it is quite cold water at 7000 feet. Back to West River Internationals. It's a great place to sail, anywhere on the Chesapeake is a great place to sail in the Spring and Fall. I look forward to seeing some of the people I met on the otherside of the pond and seeing old friends from before, as I haven't had too much time to race in the Albacore lately. See you all soon! Good Sailing! |
