Mike Heinsdorf: Day 2 and the Lay Day

It's Day 4 (including the lay day) here at Internationals and there's a bit of the famous Chesapeake breeze finally building up. Forecast for today calls for wind out of the west at 10-25mph, which means some serious puffs are about to come through. Downwind should be fun.

Day 2 of Internationals saw only one race. Two hours of bobbing around after getting to the course area finally saw a race in some light and shifty conditions. Breeze was about 5-10mph depending on where you were on the course, and just it was finally starting to get nice, we had to start going in so we wouldn't be stranded in the dark. The RC decided that Wednesday would indeed be a lay day, and the Brits sponsored several bottles of rum. What was telling was that most of the rum was present before the IAA meeting, but only 3/4 of a bottle was left by the end of the hour long meeting. Obviously, more rum was needed. But, one of the fellow Brits jumped to the rescue and Neville sponsored a party on "his yacht", where the keg somehow mysteriously found it's way, garbage can and all. Neville claims to have absolutely no idea how it ended up there. Allan Measor now has a new lifejacket and 10-Stone now has lost one flip-flop and one trainer.
