2008 Albacore North Americans
May 17th & 18th, 2008 -- Rock Hall Yacht Club, Rock Hall, Maryland

This is going to be a great regatta.

  • We have a wide-open sailing area that gives us the ability to set one mile legs in any direction.
  • We have easy beach launching and hoist/dock launching alternatives.
  • We will have a pre-regatta racing clinic (on the water with video analysis -- weather permitting) the day before (May 16), so this is a great opportunity to brush up your weaknesses before you test your skills in the regatta.
  • Rock Hall Yacht Club is clearly focused on dinghy sailing and racing, and they know what they're doing. At the same time they have a great chef who's going to prepare dinner on Saturday that is included in the $70 regatta fee (USAA/CYA/RYA member price).
  • Pack lunches for skipper and crew will be available for a steal ($20 feeds 2 people for 2 days). Make sure you order with your pre-registration.
  • For the budget-minded and outdoors types we have unlimited camping with hot showers.
  • We picked the May 17-18 Weekend, which gives our Canadian friends the chance to make it home on their Victoria Day holiday at a leisurely pace without taking an additional day off from work.
  • The Town of Rock Hall has everything we need. There's a West Marine. Get there the night before and enjoy great Eastern Shore seafood in one of the several restaurants in every price range.

Rock Hall Yacht Club is about an hour from the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. For those coming from the North it is an easy drive down Route 301 from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. For those who prefer a motel room, make your reservations right away. Although there are several motels in Chestertown, Queenstown and Kent Island, most rooms are booked because of a college graduation and other competing events in the area that weekend. We have several block booked rooms and others available in Rock Hall itself. But you need to make your reservations as soon as possible to take advantage of them. If you cannot find a room, get in touch and we'll find a way to get a roof over your head. Also, make sure to send in your pre-registration with your payment by May 9. Or use the online registration form by May 9. This saves you the $20 late payment fee, lets your kids (under 12) eat for free Saturday night, and it helps us plan a better event. Click the NOR link for more information. So, what's not to like?

Online registration should be avalible April 7th.
